Asparagopsis in Action Bus Tour
Carbon and Agribusiness Specialist Sam Bye and RMCG RFT mentor Naomi Palombi are hosting an Emissions Mitigations bus tour to Sea Forest, the production site for SeaFeed. SeaFeed processes the Tasmanian native asparagopsis seaweed into a supplement for cattle to prevent methane production.
On route, we will visit Richard Gardner's property, "Annandale," a mixed dairy and sheep farm. We will hear about Richard's experiences using seaweed to reduce methane emissions. Always looking for innovation, Richard has been an early adopter of agricultural and irrigation technology and has been involved in a range of industry productivity groups and initiatives.
What to expect:
Join us for a day trip to Sea Forest (just outside Triabunna), starting in Launceston with pick up points in Perth and Campbell Town. On the bus, experts will deliver content - think of it as a travelling podcast with a Q&A session.

Richard Gardner
Richard Gardner’s vision for the diverse agricultural business he manages, is to create an industry leader, both in terms of being a front runner but also in helping guide the industry. Additional to the farm is a stockfeed manufacturing and wholesale business supplying the majority of pet and rural retailers in Tasmania.
A need for a secure irrigation water supply prompted Richard to take a large role in the development of the $100M Midlands Water Scheme, working with all stakeholders and lobbying at a state & federal level.
Always looking for innovation Richard has been an early adopter of agricultural & irrigation technology and has been involved in a range of industry productivity groups and initiatives. With a Diploma of Agriculture from Lincoln Uni in NZ, Nuffield scholarship in 2003 and GAICD, he is a driver for a more educated, professional and science based approach to agriculture.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Workshop
Through the Resilient Farm Tas program, all participants gain access to our online classroom, which includes resources, webinars, learning modules, and workshops held around the state. These topics are directly derived from our conversations with farmers to help support their farm businesses with the challenges they face.
On October 18th, Samuel Bye and Jake Gaudion are hosting a "Greenhouse Gas Emissions Workshop" that covers the benefits of minimizing GHG for your business. This workshop is specifically designed for vegetable producers, but all Resilient Farming Tasmania participants are welcome to attend.
Don't miss out! Register for the Resilient Farming Tas Program to receive the workshop registration link and gain access to all upcoming workshops, resources, and other program benefits.
What's on the agenda for this workshop?
Setting the Scene: We'll explain GHG emissions in no jargon terms, and what they have to do with carbon in soils and vegetation.
We will discuss GHG sources and how they may relate to productivity and profitability of your farm business.
We will talk about practical strategies: What can you do to benefit?

Social dinner at Flinders Island Sports & RSL Club
The Resilient Farming Tas program team welcomes you to dinner at Flinders Island Sports & RSL Club.
We keep hearing that the social connections is one of the most critical elements for business resilience in hard times. So we want to contribute to that connection!
Come join us for a drink (first one on us) and some food, and have a chat with the teams from Resilient Farming Tas Program and Safe Farming Tas.
This is a social and informal event but a chance to ask questions of farmers who have interacted with the operators and the team delivering the programs.
